Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Dave Tiernan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joseph Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the ring it seems that Dave Tiernan has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Dave Tiernan seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith tries a head kick but it misses.
Tiernan blocks the body kick.
Smith is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Tiernan throws a head kick that misses
and Smith counters with a head kick.
Joseph Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Tiernan throws a leg kick
and Smith counters with a head kick. That will keep Tiernan thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Tiernan fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

and Smith counters with a flying knee. Nice.

Tiernan is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Smith's half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Smith fakes the leg kick and cracks Tiernan in the body.

Smith lands with a kick to the temple. Tiernan shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Smith lands a head kick. Tiernan smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Tiernan closes the distance and clinches.
Tiernan jumps guard but Smith stands there with Tiernan around his waist. Tiernan gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Smith can't break the clinch.
Smith misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Tiernan.
Tiernan keeps control of Smith as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
A left hand lands to the body for Tiernan.

Tiernan turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Tiernan manages to end up in side control.

Tiernan wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Smith, who protects the arm well.
Tiernan connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Smith some visible discomfort.

Smith tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Tiernan is breathing heavily.
Smith is trying to buck Tiernan off.

Tiernan stands up and beckons Smith to his feet.
Smith pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Smith throws a shot to the body.

Tiernan shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Smith napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Smith looks to move to half guard but instead Tiernan has passed into mount! Damn!

Tiernan takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Smith tries to reverse the position but Tiernan maintains control.

Smith tries to hold on but Tiernan pushes him away.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Smith wants to sweep here but Tiernan controlling him for the moment.

Smith uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Tiernan.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Smith tries to clinch up.
Tiernan blocks a head kick by Smith.

Smith wants to get back to his feet but Tiernan is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
