Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Helio Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Scott Roman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Gracie might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Beat You Down. Scott Roman will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Aleksandr Martynov and Valeri Chadov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Roman is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Gracie's half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Roman is just content to waste time from the top position. Gracie takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Roman accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Gracie avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Roman trying to control the position from guard on top but Gracie is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Gracie wants to sweep but no luck.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
A solid leg kick lands there for Roman.
Gracie keeps the fight on the outside.
Roman wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Gracie avoids a kick to the body.
Gracie ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Roman moves away.
Roman is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Roman tries to clinch but Gracie is having none of it.
Roman looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Roman fails with an attempt to clinch.

and Roman counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Roman is looking to stand up but he'll have to free his leg first. Instead, Gracie manages to get to full guard.

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Gracie checks a leg kick.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Gracie avoids the head kick by Roman.
Gracie chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Roman can pounce on him.
Gracie shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Roman trying to control but Gracie postures up.
Gracie is looking for a kimura but Roman is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Gracie to get the leverage.
Gracie could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Roman throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Roman is looking for a sweep. Gracie is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Roman wants to get back to his feet.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Gracie is looking for a kimura here.
Roman tries to kick Gracie off but Gracie keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Gracie takes a kick to the side of the head.
Roman doesn't manage to clinch there - Gracie circles away.
Roman gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Gracie counters with a nice double leg into guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Gracie drops back looking for a leg! Roman is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Roman manages to kick Gracie off! Gracie jumps back into Roman's guard.
Roman is trying to hold Gracie in close to prevent damage but Gracie has managed to pass into half guard.
Roman is positioning himself well to prevent Gracie advancing to mount.
Gracie wants to control but Roman is keeping him busy.
Gracie throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Gracie is trying to control the action in half guard but Roman is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Gracie prevents Roman from improving his position.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Gracie misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Roman lands a nice looking kick to the body. Gracie takes a step back to recover.

Roman throws a head kick but Gracie moves out of range.
Roman wants to clinch.
Roman tries to clinch up but Gracie circles away and keeps his distance.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Roman closes the distance but Gracie moves to the side
and Gracie counters with a takedown into side control.
Roman really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gracie. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Roman is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Roman tries to buck Gracie off but Gracie is having none of it.
Roman is breathing heavily.
Gracie advances to mount.
Roman keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Roman tries to clinch there but Gracie circles away.
Roman misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Gracie shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Gracie was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Roman's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Roman is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Roman is in all sorts of trouble here.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Gracie cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Roman is wriggling around trying to escape.
Gracie has hold of Roman's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Roman manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Roman wants to try and get back to his feet.
Roman swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Roman taking shots to the head.
Roman wants to control but Gracie is having none of it.
Gracie lands a big elbow.
Gracie moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Roman has worked his arm free - good work by Roman!

Roman tries to roll over but Gracie keeps him under control.
Roman is refusing to be controlled, as Gracie sits in half guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
