Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jaanus Murakas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jari Koivusalo!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Columbo Gatti and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Murakas swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Koivusalo.
Murakas keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Koivusalo.
Koivusalo showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Murakas.

Murakas gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Koivusalo stopping the sweep attempt from Murakas.

Murakas escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Koivusalo gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Murakas is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Koivusalo is aware though and is defending well.
Koivusalo wants to stand but Murakas is controlling his posture from full guard.

Murakas working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Koivusalo doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Koivusalo manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Koivusalo wants to get up but he can't break Murakas's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Murakas working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Koivusalo doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Koivusalo manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Koivusalo would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Koivusalo looks gassed!

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Murakas has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Koivusalo can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Koivusalo stands and throws Murakas's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Koivusalo is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Murakas is trying to escape and Koivusalo transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Murakas is forced to tap! Nice work there by Koivusalo! Very nice indeed!
