Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Georges Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cono Solo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cono Solo has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Georges Penn's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Georges Penn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Cono Solo!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Penn misses with an uppercut. Solo saw that one coming.
Solo fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Solo ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Nice sprawl there from Penn as Solo shoots in.
Penn fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Penn keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Georges Penn has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cono Solo.
Penn leaves Solo with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Penn misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Solo.
Penn looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Penn throws a hook to the side of Solo's head but Solo sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Solo looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Penn is fending him off so far but Solo persists. Nope, Penn circles away and we're back to standing.
Penn will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Penn scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Georges Penn is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Solo shoots in looking for a takedown. Penn tries to sprawl out of it but Solo keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Penn manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Penn getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Solo.
Penn loads up on a big right hand but Solo slips the punch.
Penn jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Penn tries to bum rush Solo with a series of wild strikes but Solo uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Solo throws a left and a right that both miss
and Penn counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Solo looks gassed!
Penn fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Solo manages to avoid it.
A slow jab from Penn misses its intended target.

Solo closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Solo lands in his opponent's guard.

Solo postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Penn is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Solo, into his guard.

Penn trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Penn sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Solo's guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Penn throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Solo gets full guard.
Solo looking for a sweep. Not yet Solo, not yet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Georges Penn dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Penn throws a combination that misses

and Solo decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Penn's guard.
Solo working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Penn's head.
Penn wants to stand but Solo is controlling the position.

Solo drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Penn manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Solo has Penn in his guard.

Solo working for submissions but it's allowed Penn to get to half guard.

Penn thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Solo's head.
Solo is trying to control but can't.
Solo lands a couple of sideways elbows.

Penn is working for a kimura but Solo is defending it quite comfortably.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Penn trying to control from Solo's half guard. Solo has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Solo working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Penn.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Solo can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Penn controls the pace.

Penn wants to control from the top but Solo keeps moving.
Solo tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Solo keeping moving, preventing Penn from controlling successfully.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Penn throws a big right hand that misses.
Solo not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Penn displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Solo.

Cono Solo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! And we move into the final round!

Solo slips a nice elbow through Penn's hands, connecting with Penn's forehead.
Cono Solo has got the better of the ground game so far.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Solo is keen to just control but Penn is a slippery customer.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Solo connects with a nice short shot to Penn's temple.

Solo wants to work for an arm triangle but Penn is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Penn is looking for a sweep. Solo is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Penn is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Solo wants to pass the guard but Penn is defending well.

Solo is looking for a kimura but Penn is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Solo to get the leverage.
Solo missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Penn keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Solo displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Penn throws out the jab.
Penn throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Solo sees it coming and avoids it easily.

And that's the end of the fight!
Cono Solo comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Solo has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
