The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maia fails in his attempt to clinch.
Horrible takedown by Maia or perhaps it was just good defense by Gracie which made him look bad.
Maia will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Maia shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Gracie as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Antonio Maia. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Maia is breathing heavily.
Maia looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Gracie is fending him off so far but Maia persists. Nope, Gracie circles away and we're back to standing.
Gracie looks to land a combination but Maia avoids it well.

It looks like Antonio Maia has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Gracie lands a left and a right that send Maia crashing to the mat, dazed. Gracie thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Gracie connects with a jab, followed by a picture perfect straight right that sends Maia to the canvas, out cold! What a finish by Gracie!
