Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Nguyen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marisa Orito (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Orito has a takedown stuffed.
Nguyen shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Orito as he avoids it easily.

and Nguyen counters with a single leg into guard. Orito didn't expect that.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Nguyen accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Orito avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Orito tries to clinch but Nguyen moves out of range.

Nguyen darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Nguyen is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Orito defends it well.
Nguyen is breathing heavily.

Nguyen looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Nguyen working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Orito is trying to maintain the position but Nguyen is very close to passing his half guard.

Nguyen thows a huge punch but Orito dodges it nicely.

Orito is defending against the submission attempts here by Nguyen.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
A punch combination from Orito misses.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Orito doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Nguyen counters with a nice double leg into side control. Orito won't be happy with that.
Ryan Nguyen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marisa Orito .

Nguyen thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Nguyen with the ground and pound but Orito regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
Nguyen thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Orito to regain full guard.

Nguyen manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Orito manages to get himself to full guard.

Nguyen throws and elbow that misses. Orito uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Nguyen's guard. Nice move by Orito !

Orito wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Nguyen's closed guard. He's half up but Nguyen has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Nguyen pivots and extends the arm, Orito falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Nguyen! Well done that man!
