Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mikolai Kovalchik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mitch Robertson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kovalchik comes to the cage accompanied by Get Big by Dorrough. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mikolai Kovalchik!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mitch Robertson!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Stewart Dunkirk and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Robertson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kovalchik swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Robertson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Kovalchik sprawls well. Kovalchik wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Robertson gets slowly back to his feet.

Kovalchik has closed the distance and engaged Robertson in a clinch.

Kovalchik breaks from the clinch.
Kovalchik scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
A good leg kick by Kovalchik.
Robertson tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Kovalchik counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Robertson's guard now.
Kovalchik thows a big elbow that misses.

Robertson has his foot on Kovalchik's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kovalchik works his way back into a safe position though.

Kovalchik wants to stand but Robertson is controlling his posture from full guard.

Kovalchik lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Kovalchik scores with a one two! Robertson had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Kovalchik lands a head kick. Robertson smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Robertson avoids the attempt from Kovalchik to control.
Kovalchik knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Robertson on the ground.

Robertson is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Kovalchik can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Robertson jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Kovalchik is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Kovalchik and Robertson has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Kovalchik sneaks out the side door and pushes Robertson away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Kovalchik lands with a kick to the temple. Robertson shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Kovalchik closes the distance and clinches.

Kovalchik breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Kovalchik lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Kovalchik.

Kovalchik breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Robertson has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Kovalchik shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Robertson napping and manages to drive through into side control!
This has been an exciting period of action!

Kovalchik decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Kovalchik closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Kovalchik lands in his opponent's guard.
Kovalchik wants to stand but Robertson is controlling his posture from full guard.

Robertson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Kovalchik gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Kovalchik is looking to stand up but Robertson won't let him.

Robertson doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Kovalchik counters with a one-two to the body.

Kovalchik rushes Robertson and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Robertson looks to clinch
and Kovalchik counters with a good, hard body kick but Robertson shrugs it off.
Kovalchik throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.

Kovalchik rushes Robertson and presses him up against the cage.
Robertson has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Kovalchik is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Mikolai Kovalchik has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mitch Robertson.

Kovalchik breaks from the clinch.
Kovalchik goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Robertson doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Kovalchik counters with a one-two to the body.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Kovalchik breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Kovalchik misses with a series of wild punches.
Robertson tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Kovalchik counters by moving into the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mikolai Kovalchik dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Robertson doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Kovalchik counters by clinching up.

Kovalchik's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Kovalchik stalks Robertson and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Robertson's face. Robertson staggers backwards, shaken.
Robertson closes the distance but Kovalchik moves to the side
and Kovalchik counters with a one-two to the body.

and Kovalchik counters with a straight right hand.
Robertson gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Kovalchik counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Kovalchik scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Robertson is looking for a triangle but Kovalchik pushes his legs off easily.

Kovalchik is trying to control the action in half guard but Robertson is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
