PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Andre Bryant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Cole (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bryant kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Can't stop. Cole has chosen Wonderfull Days as his entrance music. Andre Bryant has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cole shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Bryant as he avoids it easily.
Cole swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Bryant lands a with a good body shot.
Cole fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Bryant avoids it really well and circles away.
Cole fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Cole looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Bryant throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Cole works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Cole is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Bryant defends well.

Cole working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Bryant doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Bryant manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Bryant drops back looking for a leg! Cole is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Cole manages to kick Bryant off! Bryant jumps back into Cole's guard.
Cole throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Cole utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Cole has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bryant can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Joe Cole will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Bryant tries to clinch there but Cole circles away.
Bryant shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Cole as he jumps to the side.

and Bryant counters with a shoot takedown. Cole fights it but they end up in guard.

Cole looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Bryant chips away with some ground and pound.
Cole is striking but Bryant is not phased and passes to half guard.

Andre Bryant overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Bryant has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Bryant got a little sloppy there for a moment and Cole has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Bryant has managed to get both his arms back between Cole's legs - danger averted.

Cole escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Bryant gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Bryant accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Joe Cole showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Bryant has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Cole is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Bryant yanks on the arm and Cole is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Bryant.
