PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Johnson Mitchell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and LeMac Red (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mitchell comes to the cage accompanied by Ice Ice baby. Red is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by shimmy she wobble. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that LeMac Red was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Johnson Mitchell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, LeMac Red!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Daniel Bishop and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Red rushes Mitchell and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Red wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Mitchell manages to break the clinch.
Mitchell tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Red moves into the clinch.
Mitchell fails to pull the fight into his guard.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
Mitchell wants to break free but Red has control.
Mitchell throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

Red breaks the clinch.
Red closes the distance but Mitchell moves to the side

and Mitchell counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Red's guard now.
Mitchell won't allow Red to sweep him here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Red wants to improve his position but instead Mitchell has moved into half guard.
Red keeps control of the position for the meantime.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Red wants to improve his position but Mitchell is controlling well.
Mitchell wants to lay and pray for a moment but Red keeps working.
Red makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Red.
Mitchell distracts Red with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Red looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Red is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Red keeping moving, preventing Mitchell from controlling successfully.

Mitchell is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Red keeping full guard, as Mitchell tries to pass.

Red is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Mitchell with a poor takedown

and Red counters with a takedown into side control.
Red moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Mitchell prevents Red from moving into mount.
Red controlling the position.
Red blocks the strikes from Mitchell.

Mitchell is pushing Red's head away, looking to escape. Red manages to hold on to the position though.
Mitchell is trying to get back to half guard.
Red laying and praying for a moment but Mitchell takes advantage and regains half guard.
Red performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Red's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Mitchell manages to get to full guard.
Mitchell looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Red must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Mitchell controls Red momentarily but Red frees himself.
Mitchell avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

LeMac Red dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Red bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Mitchell pushes Red away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Red gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Red is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Red tries to advance to mount but Mitchell denies him.
Mitchell is not content to let Red control the position.
Red throws an elbow but Mitchell slips to the side and avoids it well.
You can see the frustration on Mitchell's face as Red controls the position.
Mitchell is looking to reverse the position.

Mitchell struggling a bit here.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Red gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Mitchell.
Mitchell trying to stall but Red improves his position.

Red works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Mitchell has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Red trying to control the position from guard on top but Mitchell is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Red wants to pass the guard but Mitchell is keeping the position.
Mitchell will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Mitchell shoots and misses

and Red decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Mitchell's guard.

Mitchell is pulling down on Red's head to control his posture.
Red passes into half guard.
Mitchell trying to hold on to Red's head to control him but Red postures up.
Red is trying to control. Mitchell wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Red tries to pass the half guard into mount. Mitchell knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Mitchell is refusing to be controlled, as Red sits in half guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Mitchell wants to get back to full guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Mitchell shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Red counters with a nice double leg into guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Johnson Mitchell. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Red wants to control from the top but Mitchell keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Red is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Red is breathing heavily.
Red trying to control but Mitchell is working from the bottom.
Red sitting in guard, not really doing much.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

LeMac Red showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Mitchell has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Red is proving hard to escape from.

Red looking to hit a scissor sweep but Mitchell is one step ahead there.
Red lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Mitchell!

Red jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Mitchell is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Mitchell and Red has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
LeMac Red is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Mitchell is letting Red control him for a moment.
Mitchell is trying to improve his position.
Mitchell is pushing Red's head away, looking to escape. Red manages to hold on to the position though.

LeMac Red comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Red has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
