Machida's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Concrete Schoolyard. Magnus Mane has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Machida knocks Mane to the floor with a head kick! Can he finish him!?

Mane is refusing to be controlled, as Machida sits in half guard.
Mane is looking for a sweep. Machida is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Machida works his foot free and advances to mount.
Mane is looking to get to half guard.
Machida with some aggressive grappling here, looking for the finish.
Mane is trying to escape the mount.
Mane really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Machida. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Machida is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Mane is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Mane instigates a clinch.
Mane stops a takedown attempt from Machida.
Mane tries to land a knee to the head but Machida blocks with his arms.

Machida has clasped his hands together around Mane's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Machida wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Mane, who protects the arm well.

Machida thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Mane tries to bench press Machida off him but Machida keeps the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Machida changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mane looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Machida's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

Machida has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Mane! Can he survive? No! He's out! Machida gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
