Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Marcelo Garcia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stewie Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Garcia comes to the cage accompanied by David Banner ft Lil Flip - Get Down Like A Pimp . Griffin has chosen The Ride as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Marcelo Garcia!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Stewie Griffin!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Winston Howard and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Griffin defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Garcia.

Griffin drives through with a takedown into guard.
Griffin is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Griffin wanted to stand there but Garcia had control of the position.

Let's hope that Griffin has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Griffin decides to stand back up.

Griffin fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Garcia sprawls well initially but Griffin persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Griffin looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Griffin decides to stand up.

Griffin pushes Garcia up against the cage in a clinch.

Garcia is looking to improve his position.
Griffin wants to free his trapped foot but Garcia is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Griffin wants to stand but Garcia has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

Griffin stands up from half guard.

Griffin gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Garcia jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Griffin walks away with a smile on his face. Garcia gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Griffin creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Garcia sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Griffin decides to stand up, so the ref orders Garcia to his feet.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Griffin shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Garcia napping and manages to drive through into side control!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stewie Griffin dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Griffin shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Garcia's guard.
Stewie Griffin has got the better of the ground game so far.
Garcia trying to keep a closed guard but Griffin is proving a slippery customer.
Griffin not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Griffin wants to get up but he can't break Garcia's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Griffin throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Garcia works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Griffin is looking to stand up but Garcia won't let him.
Griffin controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Griffin got a little sloppy there for a moment and Garcia has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Griffin has managed to get both his arms back between Garcia's legs - danger averted.

Garcia is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Griffin stands up from Garcia's guard - Griffin perhaps looking for a knockout.

Griffin darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Griffin content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Griffin's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Griffin passes the guard and advances to mount!
Garcia tries to lock up and control but Griffin gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Garcia throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.

Griffin landing strikes, looking to finish!
Griffin content just to control the position here.

Garcia wants to hold on but Griffin pushes him away.
Griffin landing strikes from the mount and Garcia is in trouble!
Griffin takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Garcia is looking to get to half guard.
Griffin controlling the position easily from mount.
Griffin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Garcia. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Griffin lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Griffin tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Despite being in the dominant position, Stewie Griffin just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and Griffin counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Griffin.
Griffin chips away with some ground and pound.
Griffin is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Griffin is pushing down on Garcia's leg trying to pass to half guard. Garcia is fighting to maintain full guard but Griffin has managed to sneak the leg through.

Griffin gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

Griffin shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stewie Griffin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Garcia dodges the punch combination from Griffin.

Garcia gets caught flat footed, as Griffin shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Garcia is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Griffin frees his head nicely. Oh but Garcia has switched to an armbar! Griffin is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
