The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Edson Gomes and Mauricio Rocha.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aldo fails in his attempt to clinch.

Schnitzel shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Aldo napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Aldo tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Aldo wants to clinch up but Schnitzel keeps it at a distance.
Schnitzel shoots in for a takedown but Aldo shows good takedown defense.

Aldo throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Schnitzel seems to have recovered his senses.

Aldo manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Schnitzel manages to get himself to full guard.
Aldo is looking to stand up but Schnitzel won't let him.

Schnitzel has his foot on Aldo's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Aldo works his way back into a safe position though.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Aldo tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Schnitzel wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Schnitzel is looking to take a break and control but Aldo is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Aldo is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Aldo jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.

That was a close round but I would say that Jose Aldo will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Aldo avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Aldo lands with a kick to the temple. Schnitzel shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Schnitzel wants to control from the top but Aldo keeps moving.
Aldo will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
