Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ed Reed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lucas Mitchell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ed Reed looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Lucas Mitchell!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mitchell closes this distance looking for a takedown but Reed circles away.
Reed is looking to score with low kicks.
Lucas Mitchell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Reed scores with a crisp jab that stopped Mitchell in his tracks.
Mitchell looks to land a right hand but Reed moved out of range.
Reed moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Mitchell tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Mitchell has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Reed is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Mitchell asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Mitchell advances to full mount.
Reed tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Mitchell is going olschool here, as he tries to force Reed to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Reed shrugs it off.
Mitchell has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Reed's face.
Mitchell has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Reed tries to reverse the position but Mitchell maintains control.

Mitchell takes Reed's back. Could be looking for a rear naked choke here - either way, Reed is in trouble.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mitchell connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Reed to escape the position.
Reed can't escape the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Reed changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Reed throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Mitchell's head.
Mitchell takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Reed throws a series of punches but Mitchell moves out of range.
Mitchell misses with a takedown attempt - Reed sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Reed throws the left hand but Mitchell avoids the punch easily.

Mitchell dives in and grabs Reed's left leg, looking for a takedown. Reed pushes down on Mitchell's head and hops out.
Ed Reed has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lucas Mitchell.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mitchell takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

Mitchell throws a hook to the side of Reed's head but Reed sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Reed connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Mitchell is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent.
Reed stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Reed wants it to stay on the feet.
Reed throws a nice looking combination but Mitchell bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Mitchell throws a lazy right hand but Reed sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Reed lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Reed lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Mitchell is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Reed has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Mitchell goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Reed turns into him and now he's in Mitchell's guard.

Mitchell is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Reed defends well.
Reed sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Mitchell's guard.
Lucas Mitchell has got the better of the ground game so far.
Reed is looking to take a break and control but Mitchell is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Reed has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Ed Reed.
