PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jose Luis Cantero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryuu Takeshi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cantero comes to the ring accompanied by La mandanga. Takeshi is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: On The Dub-ble. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Jose Luis Cantero!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ryuu Takeshi!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Takeshi with a nice cross.
Takeshi walks into a stiff left hand from Cantero.
Cantero throws a series of punches but Takeshi moves out of range.
Takeshi throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Cantero on the side of the head.
Takeshi lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Cantero at a distance.
Takeshi throws a nice inside leg kick.
Takeshi misses with an uppercut. Cantero saw that one coming.

Cantero closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Takeshi did well to prevent Cantero getting side control.
Cantero thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Cantero stops Takeshi from getting back to his feet.

Takeshi's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Takeshi throws a looping overhand right but Cantero ducks down to avoid it.
Cantero tries to score a power double leg takedown but Takeshi sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Cantero somewhat.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Nice takedown defense from Takeshi. No joy for Cantero on that attempt.
Takeshi throws a big shot that misses.

Takeshi tries to clinch there but Cantero circles away.
Cantero walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Cantero fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Takeshi does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
The fight stays on the outside here - Takeshi looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Cantero throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Takeshi was covering up waiting for the punch and Cantero finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Cantero stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Takeshi swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Cantero sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Takeshi's guard.

Cantero is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Cantero not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Cantero thows a huge punch but Takeshi dodges it nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jose Luis Cantero will probably get the nod.

Takeshi tries to close the distance and clinch but Cantero swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Cantero looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
Cantero is pinned up against the ropes taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Takeshi jabs Cantero right on the nose. Cantero blinks but takes it well.
Takeshi has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Cantero doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ryuu Takeshi showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

And that's the end of the fight!
Ryuu Takeshi comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Takeshi has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
