Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Emelianenko Fedor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and steven segal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). segal is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Rock you like a hurricane. The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
segal tries to clinch there but Fedor circles away.

segal throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Fedor was covering up waiting for the punch and segal finishes the takedown easily into guard.
segal connects with a couple of short punches.
Fedor wants to sweep here but segal controlling him for the moment.
segal wants to control from the top but Fedor keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

segal avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fedor keeping moving, preventing segal from controlling successfully.
segal postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Fedor has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but segal can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Fedor throws a right and a left that segal avoids nicely.
segal tries to score a power double leg takedown but Fedor sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten segal somewhat.

Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by segal.
segal tries to clinch up.
segal changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Fedor tries to avoid it but segal manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Fedor to the ground. Fedor escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

segal closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Fedor to the mat! Fedor manages to get full guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
segal is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

segal decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

segal closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Fedor did well to prevent segal getting side control.
segal wants to free his trapped foot but Fedor is holding on for dear life with his legs.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
segal moves into full mount! Fedor won't be happy about that!

segal tries to close the distance and clinch but Fedor swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

segal thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Fedor if he has to take too many more of those.
segal throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Fedor had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. segal defends it easily.
segal would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
