Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between antonio gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Fontana (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). gracie comes to the cage accompanied by hearts on fire. The crowd seem to be enjoying Fontana's choice of entrance music: Queensryche - Silent Lucidity. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Franklyn Lucas and Anthony Taglia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fontana shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. gracie is trying to defend but Fontana finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Fontana postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for gracie to stand up.
Fontana throws a right and a left that both miss.
gracie moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
gracie throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
gracie scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Fontana tries to improve position but can't.

Fontana tries to buck gracie off but gracie is having none of it.
You can see the frustration on Fontana's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Fontana is looking to control gracie's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Fontana avoid being mounted?
Fontana is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but gracie is staying active.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Fontana is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

and Fontana counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in gracie's guard now.

Fontana drops gracie with a beautiful combination! gracie stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Fontana is looking for the KO!

This has been an exciting period of action!
Fontana clinches with his opponent.
Oh gracie is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Fontana putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has gracie in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.
gracie takes an elbow to the forehead.
Fontana manages to break the clinch.
Fontana tries to clinch there but gracie circles away.
gracie avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
gracie seems to have got his legs back now.
gracie feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
gracie got a little sloppy there for a moment and Fontana has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, gracie has managed to get both his arms back between Fontana's legs - danger averted.
Fontana seems keen to control gracie's posture.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Fontana wants to stand up but gracie is controlling him.

Fontana tries to land knees in the clinch but gracie avoids the damage to the body.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Fontana.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

gracie is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Fontana gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Fontana jumps guard but gracie stands there with Fontana around his waist. Fontana gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
antonio gracie has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Steve Fontana.
Fontana keeps the fight in the clinch, despite gracie's efforts to push away.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fontana escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. gracie gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Fontana wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Fontana is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Fontana can't keep his opponent in guard - gracie advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!
gracie looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Fontana is fending him off so far but gracie persists. Nope, Fontana circles away and we're back to standing.

Fontana throws a couple of punches but he's in a bad position and they don't land.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Fontana slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
gracie is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

gracie stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Fontana shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has gracie pinned against the cage. gracie gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Fontana closes the distance looking to clinch
and gracie counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Fontana wriggles free and stands up.
antonio gracie has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
gracie gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Fontana to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Fontana must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Fontana is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
