Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Martin Cristos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mac Avelli (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cristos comes to the cage accompanied by Cypress Hill - Hand on the Pump. Mac Avelli has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Martin Cristos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mac Avelli!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Avelli throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Cristos's waist but Cristos gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Avelli off to one side.
Cristos throws a jab but it's blocked by Avelli.
Cristos throws a nice looking combination but Avelli bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Avelli dives in and grabs Cristos's left leg, looking for a takedown. Cristos pushes down on Avelli's head and hops out.
Cristos scores with a jab.
Cristos misses with a two punch combination.
Avelli takes one on the button.
Avelli looks to land a combination but Cristos avoids it well.
Cristos connects with a good right hand that stumbles Avelli. Avelli circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cristos fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Avelli manages to avoid it.
Avelli closes the distance and clinches up with Cristos, looking for a takedown. Avelli pushes Cristos against the cage but Cristos circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Martin Cristos has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mac Avelli.
Cristos connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Martin Cristos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Avelli takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Cristos looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Avelli blocks a jab.
A combination from Cristos does no damage.
Avelli moves forwards but Cristos connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Avelli shoots in for a double leg but Cristos sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Cristos has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Cristos looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Avelli puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Cristos is trying to stand.

Cristos is defending against the submission attempts here by Avelli.

Avelli is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Cristos sees it coming and defends easily.
Cristos is doing well to control the position and prevent Avelli from advancing to side control.
Cristos has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Avelli seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Cristos does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Cristos is trying to maintain the position but Avelli is very close to passing his half guard.
Avelli passes into side control, despite Cristos's attempt to control the position.

Avelli looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Cristos is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Cristos keeps the fight on the outside.
Cristos throws a chopping leg kick but Avelli manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Cristos wants to slow Avelli down by chopping away at his legs.
Avelli closes this distance looking for a takedown but Cristos circles away.
Cristos misses the shot to the body.
Nice sprawl there from Cristos as Avelli shoots in.

Avelli shoots for a double leg takedown but Cristos sprawls well. He's pushed Avelli's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Avelli checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.

Cristos tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Martin Cristos is winning the standup battle so far.
Cristos ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Avelli moves away.
Cristos dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Avelli. That did some damage!
No joy there for Cristos, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Cristos throws a jab when Avelli was well out of range.
Avelli defending well as Cristos loads up on a big left hand.

Cristos tries to bum rush Avelli with a series of wild strikes but Avelli uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Cristos throws a leg kick
and Avelli counters with a nice kick to the body.
Avelli staying out of range there.
Cristos throws a left and a right that both miss

and Avelli counters with a takedown into side control.
Cristos is trying to control Avelli's posture but Avelli avoids it.
Cristos dodges the ground and pound from Avelli.
I wouldn't like to be where Cristos is right now.

Cristos tries to buck Avelli off but Avelli is having none of it.

Avelli is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Cristos knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Avelli is looking to take a break and control but Cristos is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Cristos is looking for a sweep.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Avelli avoids a punch combination nicely.
Cristos misses with a double jab.
Avelli tries to clinch but Cristos moves out of range.
Cristos fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Avelli checks it well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cristos falls off balance throwing a combination

and Avelli counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Avelli.

Avelli goes for a takedown in the clinch but Cristos prevents it.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Cristos creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Cristos gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Avelli.
Cristos lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Avelli backwards.
Cristos stalls.
A right handed body shot lands from Cristos.

Cristos breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Cristos scores with a leg kick.
Avelli ducks under a wild hook from Cristos.
Some bone on bone action there as Avelli checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Martin Cristos is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Cristos lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Cristos.
Cristos dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Avelli. That did some damage!
Avelli takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Cristos swings for the body but Avelli moves out of range.
Cristos throws a combination that misses

so Avelli counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cristos bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Avelli's guard.
Cristos slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Cristos is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Avelli's shoulder. That is not cool.

Cristos decides to stand back up.
Cristos moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Cristos lands a lovely overhand right.
Cristos stuffs the takedown attempt from Avelli. Avelli gets slowly back to his feet.
Martin Cristos has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mac Avelli.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Cristos misses with a hook.
Avelli shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Cristos defends it nicely.
Cristos lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Avelli circles away quickly and effectively.

And that's the end of the fight!
Martin Cristos showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Cristos, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
