Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Max Payne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pedro Romero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Max Payne!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Pedro Romero!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Jonathan Paton and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Payne rushes Romero and presses him up against the cage.
Romero is trying to break the clinch but Payne is controlling him.
Payne is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Payne working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
Payne wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Payne has a couple of punches blocked by Romero.
Romero has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Payne pushes Romero back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Romero blocks a body shot from Payne.
Payne keeps control of Romero as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Romero prevents Payne from breaking the clinch.
Payne is trying to break free.

Payne's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Payne fails with an attempt to clinch.
Romero looks to throw the jab but Payne is out of range.

Romero looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Payne!
Romero punching from mount but Payne doing a good job of avoiding damage.
Payne holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Romero tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Poor strikes thrown by Romero there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Payne wants to try and get back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Romero looking to control but Payne is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Payne regains half guard.

Payne kicks Romero off and gets back to his feet.
Payne lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Romero circles away quickly and effectively.
Romero paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Payne throws a left that rocks Romero and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Payne dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Romero regain composure!


It looks like Pedro Romero has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Payne scores with punches from side control.


Romero is rocked!
Payne working the ground and pound.
Romero is still in real trouble! Can Payne finish him?
A big shot lands for Payne! That's hurt Romero! Will he recover? Payne fires away with more strikes and the referee has to step in to stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Max Payne!
