Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rick James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick Abbate (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rick James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nick Abbate!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Bruno Lombardi and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Abbate tries to clinch up.
Nick Abbate seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

James closes the distance and clinches.
A knee to the head by James.
Abbate can't break the clinch.
James throws a knee to the head but misses.
James gets through Abbate's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
James lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.

James gets control of Abbate's arms and successfully pulls guard. James will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
James manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
James lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Abbate can't escape the position.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

James with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
James lands a nice shot to the head.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Abbate is trying to escape the mount.

Abbate is in a horrible position here. James smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
James lands with some strikes.
Abbate slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Abbate looks like he's trying to stand up.
James wants to stand but Abbate has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Abbate makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Abbate.
Abbate manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
James looks out of his depth in this position - he's holding on tight.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
James can't escape the position.
James knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Abbate on the ground.

James wants to control but Abbate is having none of it.

James bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
James is pushing down on Abbate's leg trying to pass to half guard. Abbate is fighting to maintain full guard but James has managed to sneak the leg through.

James is nestled in close to Abbate, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
James is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

It looks like James is going to stand back up.
Abbate pushes James off looking to stand but James dives back in and keeps control.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
James closes the distance and clinches up with Abbate, looking for a takedown. James pushes Abbate against the ropes but Abbate circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Abbate is fighting off a takedown attempt but James is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Abbate to the mat. Abbate regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Abbate throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

James shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Abbate is trying to defend but James finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

James cracks Abbate with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Abbate tries to roll over but James keeps him under control.

James slips a nice elbow through Abbate's hands, connecting with Abbate's forehead.
James is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Abbate is trying to defend against the ground and pound but James scores with a couple of nice shots.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Abbate looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for James!
James is desperately trying to improve his position but Abbate has a good base and remains in mount.

Abbate stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.

James fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Abbate, pushing him back against the ropes.

Abbate ties up his opponent against the ropes and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Abbate no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

James stands up and waves to Abbate to follow him.

Abbate throws a series of punches but James moves out of range.
Abbate has a takedown stuffed.

And that's the end of the fight!
Rick James showed his dominance in that final round.
Well James has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
