Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paul Boyd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fernando Torres (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Fernando Torres enters the ring!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Paul Boyd!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Fernando Torres!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Chad Campbell and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Torres shoots in looking for a takedown. Boyd tries to sprawl out of it but Torres keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Boyd manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Torres misses with a series of wild punches.
Torres throws a head kick but Boyd moves out of range.
Boyd has his takedown stuffed

and Torres counters by moving into the clinch.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Torres breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Torres goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Boyd stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Boyd wants it to stay on the feet.
Boyd could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Torres throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Boyd's waist but Boyd gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Torres off to one side.
Boyd is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Torres misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Boyd is defended easily by Torres.

Boyd slaps away a takedown attempt from Torres, before circling back to the center of the mat.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Torres wants a takedown.

Torres successfully pulls guard.
Torres wants to sweep but no luck.
Boyd pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Torres is keeping the position for now.
Torres is trying to control the position but Boyd postures up.
Boyd trying to move into half guard but instead Torres has managed to sweep!
Boyd is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Torres won't allow Boyd to get back to his feet.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Torres moves into the clinch successfully.
Torres tries to pull guard but Boyd won't allow it.

Torres is looking for a triangle but Boyd pushes his legs off easily.
Torres not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Torres is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Boyd's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Boyd stopping the sweep attempt from Torres.
Boyd trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Torres trying to keep a closed guard but Boyd is proving a slippery customer.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Torres keeping moving, preventing Boyd from controlling successfully.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Boyd scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Torres doesn't seem bothered though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Paul Boyd will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Boyd shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Torres counters with a nice uppercut.
No luck for Torres with that takedown attempt.
Boyd looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Torres tries to clinch

and Boyd counters by moving into the clinch.
Torres tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Boyd just stands there and leans against the ropes.

Boyd pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Torres is looking to clinch but Boyd is avoiding it.
Torres dives in and grabs Boyd's left leg, looking for a takedown. Boyd pushes down on Torres's head and hops out.

Torres is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Boyd has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Boyd wants to hold on but Torres pushes him away.

Torres breaks from Boyd's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Torres throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
Boyd swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Torres lands a nice shot to the head.
Boyd is squirming around, avoiding Torres's attempts to control the action.
Torres lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Torres tries to control but Boyd wriggling away.

Boyd has given up his back, trying to stand up. Not clever.

Torres gets his hands free as Boyd looks to control.
Boyd is keeping busy.
Boyd is trying to break free.
I would not like to be Boyd right now.
Boyd has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fernando Torres showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Boyd throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

Boyd moves in looking to clinch but Torres pushes him off.

Boyd has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Torres is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Boyd manages to break the clinch.
Boyd closes the distance and clinches up with Torres, looking for a takedown. Boyd pushes Torres against the ropes but Torres circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The fight stays on the outside here - Boyd looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Boyd shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Torres as he jumps to the side.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Paul Boyd.
I think Boyd has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
