Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tom Svenn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Garth Roosevelt!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Daniel Cesar and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Svenn fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Roosevelt sprawls well initially but Svenn persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Svenn is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Roosevelt is just riding it out for now. Svenn eventually gives up the hold.

Svenn is working for a kimura but Roosevelt is defending it quite comfortably.
Roosevelt wants to get back to full guard.

Svenn is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Roosevelt defends it well.

Roosevelt is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Roosevelt really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Svenn. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Roosevelt can do anything to dispel that myth.

Roosevelt is looking to regain half guard here but Svenn keeps moving and retains side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Svenn has knee on belly and moves into mount.

Svenn is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Roosevelt is forced to tap! Great finish!
