Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Monfriesz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Simo Paavolainen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Johnny Monfriesz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Simo Paavolainen!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Roosa Järviläinen and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Monfriesz throws a nice inside leg kick.

Monfriesz closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Paavolainen is looking for a sweep.
Monfriesz is looking to take a break and control but Paavolainen is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Monfriesz remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Monfriesz dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Monfriesz is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Paavolainen is just riding it out for now. Monfriesz eventually gives up the hold.

Paavolainen is looking to clinch.
Monfriesz fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Paavolainen fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Monfriesz.

Paavolainen should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Paavolainen wants to stand up but Monfriesz is controlling him.
Monfriesz is standing up over Paavolainen. Paavolainen looks to escape but Monfriesz dives into side control.
Paavolainen really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Monfriesz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Paavolainen is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
