PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chad Robertson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and William Brooks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Chad Robertson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, William Brooks!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Summer Carpenter and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Robertson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Brooks pinned against the cage. Brooks gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Robertson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Brooks's waist but Brooks gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Robertson off to one side.
Brooks avoids a kick to the body.
Robertson tries to close the distance and clinch but Brooks swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Robertson throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Brooks.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Robertson shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Brooks shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Robertson manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Robertson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Brooks gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Brooks stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Robertson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Brooks can do anything to dispel that myth.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Brooks tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Robertson passes into half guard under a barage of strikes.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Brooks changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Robertson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Well Brooks has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
