The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Reed Andrews and Eddie Farnsworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Evans lands a right hook to the body.
Zavala on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
It looks like Anthony Zavala has been cut.
Evans with a jab.
Evans connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Evans dodges the punch combination from Zavala.
Zavala misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Evans lands with a right hand.
Zavala changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Evans tries to avoid it but Zavala manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Evans to the ground. Evans escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Evans fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Zavala fails with a takedown attempt.
Zavala looks gassed!
The crowd cheers as Evans lands an impressive looking overhand right. Zavala doesn't seem phased though.
Evans lands an uppercut out of nowhere! Zavala falls backwards - clearly groggy! Evans dives in and finishes the fight with more strikes for a TKO finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jay Evans!
