The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Collins moves out of range of the strikes.
Collins takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Mason takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Oooh a lovely combination from Mason sends Collins down but not out. Mason dives into side control looking to finish.


It looks like David Collins has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Collins parries the strikes from Mason easily there. Mason is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Collins to escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Collins defending against the ground and pound.
The ground and pound from Mason seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Mason throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Collins pushes Mason away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Mason gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Collins dodges the ground and pound from Mason.
Collins sneaks back into half guard.
Still in half guard, Mason seems content to control.
Mason thows a huge punch but Collins dodges it nicely.

Mason takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Collins is not content to let Mason control the position.
Collins wants to control but Mason is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Mason throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Collins is trying to maintain the position but Mason is very close to passing his half guard.
Collins controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
Mason is keen to just control but Collins is a slippery customer.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Collins wants to clinch up but Mason keeps it at a distance.
Collins tries to close the distance and clinch but Mason swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Collins tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Mason paws at him with a jab and circles away.
A clash of legs there as Collins blocks the low kick.
Mason misses with a hook. Collins ducked under it nicely.
Frank Mason seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mason looks to score with a jab to the body but Collins is just out of range.
Mason misses with a few strikes there.
Mason lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Collins is looking to clinch.
Collins throws a chopping leg kick but Mason manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Collins is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mason scores with a decent looking hook.


That has opened up David Collins's cut even more.
A jab from Mason misses.
Collins fails in his attempt to clinch.
Mason misses with a wild body shot.
Mason lands a slapping body shot.
Collins tries to clinch there but Mason circles away.
Mason connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Collins looks gassed!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Collins wants to clinch.
Mason will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Collins takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Mason throws a hook but Collins avoids it easily.
Collins tries to clinch up.
Mason comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Collins bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Mason uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Collins has time to react.


The cut above David Collins's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

Mason cracks Collins with a big right hand and Collins goes down!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Mason wants to control from the top but Collins keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frank Mason dominated that round.
The cut man is working on David Collins's cut.

A big left from Mason misses.
Mason throws the left hand but Collins avoids the punch easily.
Collins ducks under a wild hook from Mason.
Frank Mason is winning the standup battle so far.
Mason lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Mason scores to the head and body with a nice combination!


David Collins's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
Mason looks to land a left hand but Collins moved out of range nicely.
Mason lands the left hand.
Collins tries to clinch there but Mason circles away.
Collins slips a jab and a cross from Mason.
Collins scores with a leg kick.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Mason misses with a double jab.
