The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Soldat misses with a wild body shot.
Soldat looks to score with a jab to the body but Melroy is just out of range.
Melroy tries to clinch up but Soldat circles away and keeps his distance.
Melroy shoots in but Soldat avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Soldat just misses with a punch to the body.
Soldat fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Melroy manages to avoid it.

Melroy looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Melroy seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Soldat thows a body shot but no joy.
Melroy misses with a takedown attempt - Soldat sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Soldat is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Melroy rather than just go for the knockout.
Soldat lands a jab to Melroy's midsection.
Melroy dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Soldat. That did some damage!
Melroy fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Krigar Soldat seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Melroy closes the distance and clinches.
Soldat wants to get back to striking at distance but Melroy won't allow it.
Melroy has Soldat pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Soldat manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Soldat tries to break the clinch but Melroy is controlling the position.
Melroy prevents Soldat from breaking the clinch.
Melroy is looking to control Soldat's arms but Soldat gets an underhook and turns him. Now Melroy has his back to the cage.

Melroy lands a nice elbow from the clinch.

It looks like Krigar Soldat has been cut.

Melroy has picked Soldat up - he's going for a ride! Melroy dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Melroy postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Soldat to stand up.
Melroy shoots in and drives through. Soldat sprawls well.
Melroy lands a big right hand and follows it up with an uppercut. Oh and another big punch and a knee - Soldat can't take much more of this! Another big shot to the jaw from Melroy and Soldat drops to the floor. Beaten and bloodied - he had enough there. A vicious beatdown by Melroy.
