Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Canadian Saint!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Willy Samson!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Lou da Vinci and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big right from Saint misses.
Willy Samson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Samson shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Samson slips under a jab from Saint.
Saint throws the left hand but Samson avoids the punch easily.
Samson has a takedown stuffed.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Samson is defended easily by Saint.
Canadian Saint has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Willy Samson.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Saint shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Samson sprawls well. Samson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Saint gets slowly back to his feet.

Samson moves in looking to clinch but Saint pushes him off.
Saint swats away the attempt to clinch by Samson.
Saint throws an overhand right that lands on Samson's shoulder, as Samson tries to avoid the shot.

and Saint counters with a straight right hand.

No luck for Samson with that takedown attempt.
Samson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Saint's waist but Saint gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Samson off to one side.
Samson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Saint as he jumps to the side.
Samson ducks under a wild hook from Saint.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Samson shoots and misses
and Samson takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Samson cracks Saint with a right hand to the side of the head.
Samson tries to close the distance and clinch but Saint swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Saint throws a front kick aimed at Samson's knee but Samson avoids it well.
Saint throws a hook to the side of Samson's head but Samson sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Samson has his takedown stuffed
and Saint connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Saint throws a hook but Samson blocks it.
Good work by Samson as he checks the leg kick.
Samson fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Samson closes the distance and clinches up with Saint, looking for a takedown. Samson pushes Saint against the cage but Saint circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Samson shoots in looking for a takedown. Saint tries to sprawl out of it but Samson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Saint manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Saint throws a shot from downtown. Samson moves away and avoids it.
Samson fails with a takedown attempt.
Saint misses with a straight right.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Samson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Saint to the mat! Saint manages to get full guard.
Samson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Saint swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Saint is looking to stand up but Samson isn't so interested in that idea.
Samson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Saint kicks Samson off and gets to his feet.
Saint misses with a hook.
Samson tries to clinch there but Saint circles away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Samson fails with a takedown attempt.
Samson tries to clinch but Saint moves out of range.
A swing and a miss from Saint.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Samson.
Samson uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Saint.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Saint lands with a hook. Samson tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Samson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Samson takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.


That has opened up Willy Samson's cut even more.

Samson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Saint, pushing him back against the cage.
Saint wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Samson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Saint paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Samson doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Saint counters with a stiff right hand.
Saint misses with the combination.
A telegraphed right hand from Saint misses the target.

Samson uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Saint.
Samson ducks under a wild hook from Saint.
Samson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Saint pinned against the cage. Saint gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Saint stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Saint wants it to stay on the feet.
Canadian Saint has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Willy Samson.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Samson moves out of range as Saint strikes.
Samson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Saint swivels and escapes.
Saint fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Saint lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

And that's the end of the fight!
Canadian Saint showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Saint, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
