PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brock Brutus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ando Easter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brutus's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, ladies and gentleman. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Brock Brutus!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ando Easter!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Brutus darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Brutus tries to pass to full mount but Easter defends it.
Brutus is looking to stall here but Easter recovers full guard.
Brutus trying to control but Easter is working from the bottom.
Brutus makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Brutus tries to free his leg and advance position but Easter is retaining full guard.
Easter tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Easter keeping full guard, as Brutus tries to pass.
Brutus is working hard here to advance position.
Brutus won't allow Easter to sweep him here.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Brutus misses with a takedown attempt - Easter sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Brutus misses with a low kick.

Brutus throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Easter was covering up waiting for the punch and Brutus finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Brutus wants to control from the top but Easter keeps moving.
Brutus wants to pass the guard but Easter is keeping the position.
Easter looking to hit a scissor sweep but Brutus is one step ahead there.
Brutus pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Easter is keeping the position for now.

Easter avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Easter seems keen to control Brutus's posture.
Brutus tries to free his leg and advance position but Easter is retaining full guard.
Brutus won't allow Easter to sweep him here.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Brutus swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Brutus lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Easter circles away quickly and effectively.

Easter is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Brutus's half guard.
Brutus is trying to stand up here but Easter is controlling him well.
Easter seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Brutus is trying to stand.
Brutus is breathing heavily.
Easter keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
I looks like Easter might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Easter connects with a nice short shot to Brutus's temple.
Easter looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Brutus with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Easter is trying to control. Brutus wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Brutus looks like he's trying to stand up.
Brutus is looking to get back to is feet but Easter passes into side control.
Easter remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Easter is trying to get an arm triangle but Brutus is defending well.
Easter slows the pace down.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Ando Easter will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Easter throws a combination. Brutus tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Easter scores with a jab to the head.
Brutus dodges the punch combination from Easter.
Easter misses with a wild combination.
Brutus misses with a double jab

and Easter counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Easter trying to control from half guard but Brutus is working away.
Brutus pushes Easter off looking to stand but Easter dives back in and keeps control.
Easter seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Easter is looking to advance position but Brutus won't allow it.
Easter lands with a punch from half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Easter is looking to take a break and control but Brutus is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Still in half guard, Easter seems content to control.
Easter prevents Brutus from standing back up.
Easter performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Brutus pushes Easter off looking to stand but Easter dives back in and keeps control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Easter content to control rather than advance.
Brutus wants to get back to his feet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Brutus is in trouble now - Easter has advanced to mount!
Easter controlling the pace for now.
Easter breaks from Brutus's wrist control and lands an elbow.


It looks like Brock Brutus has been cut.
Ando Easter has got the better of the ground game so far.
Easter content just to control the position here.
Brutus taking shots to the head.
Easter takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Despite being in the dominant position, Ando Easter just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Easter looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Brutus!

Easter postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Brutus looks a forlorn figure.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Brutus is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

Brock Brutus's cut is getting worse.
Brutus is trying to stand.
Easter looking to control and managing it successfully.

Easter lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Brutus hang on?


Brock Brutus's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Brutus wants to get back to his feet.
Easter looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Easter with shots to the head and body - Brutus looks very uncomfortable down there.


Jeez, Brock Brutus's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Brock Brutus's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
