Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mike Kooch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Umber!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Daniel Franklin and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Umber throws the kick towards the body but Kooch avoids it.
John Umber seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Umber is looking to clinch.

Kooch looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Umber!
Umber wants to hold on but Kooch pushes him away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kooch is looking to control Umber's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kooch avoid being mounted?
Kooch might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Umber is looking for a kimura but Kooch is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Umber to get the leverage.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Kooch is trying to control but can't.

Kooch is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Umber's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Umber's back!

Umber got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kooch has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Umber has managed to get both his arms back between Kooch's legs - danger averted.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kooch escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Umber gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Kooch shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Umber is trying to defend but Kooch finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Kooch is keen to just control but Umber is a slippery customer.
Umber manages to get to full guard.

Kooch is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Umber is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Umber has escaped and now he's on top!
Kooch has momentary wrist control but Umber slips an elbow through the middle.

Kooch isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Umber stacks Kooch on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Umber!

Umber wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kooch keeps working.
Kooch is trying to get back to half guard.

Umber decides to stand up, so the ref orders Kooch to his feet.
Umber keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

and Kooch counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Kooch is working for a submission of some sort.
Kooch stops Umber from getting back to his feet.
Umber is trying is best to control the position here.
Mike Kooch overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Umber is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Kooch moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Umber has worked his arm free - good work by Umber!
Umber is looking to regain half guard here but Kooch keeps moving and retains side control.

Kooch tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kooch has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Kooch kicks Umber off and gets back to his feet.

and Kooch decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Umber's guard.

Kooch drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Umber manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Kooch has Umber in his guard.

Umber decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Kooch, up you get!

Kooch thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Umber's head.

Kooch seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Umber does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Kooch is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Umber defends it well.

Kooch is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Umber is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
