Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shawn Newman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kirk Megaphny (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kirk Megaphny!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Gregory Folan and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Megaphny misses with a jab, cross combination.
Newman fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Newman is looking to take a break and control but Megaphny is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That was a close round but I would say that Shawn Newman will probably get the nod.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Megaphny has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Kirk Megaphny showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Megaphny doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Newman decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Megaphny's guard.
Megaphny wants to sweep but no luck.
Megaphny can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Newman controls the pace.
Megaphny is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Megaphny is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Newman doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Megaphny.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Newman counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Newman.
Newman wants to control from the top but Megaphny keeps moving.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Newman accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Newman throws a strike but Megaphny rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Newman wants to get back to his feet but Megaphny is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Newman shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Megaphny but Megaphny pushes him off and we're back to square one.

And that's the end of the fight!
Shawn Newman showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Newman has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
