The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Malenko is defended easily by Machida.
Machida has taken the fight to the clinch.
Malenko gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Machida is looking to control Malenko's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Machida avoid being mounted?
Malenko throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Malenko not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Machida is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Malenko pulls his head out easily.
Malenko throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Malenko prevents Machida from improving his position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Malenko shoots for a takedown but Machida saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Machida rushes Malenko and presses him up against the cage.

Sakura Machida has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Diego Malenko.
Machida decides to pull guard.

Malenko throwing strikes but missing.
Malenko has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Machida to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Malenko is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Machida pulls down on the head and he's put Malenko to sleep! This one is all over!
