Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Gump Worsley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mohammed Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gump Worsley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mohammed Smith!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Trevor Gratis and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Worsley scores with a takedown into Smith's guard.
Worsley wants to stand but Smith has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Worsley stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Smith swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Smith tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Smith is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Worsley is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Smith gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Smith breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Smith gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Smith is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Worsley would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Smith wants to get back to his feet but Worsley is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Gump Worsley seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Smith throws a head kick that misses.
Worsley with a poor takedown
and Smith connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Smith shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Worsley manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Smith sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Worsley's guard.
Worsley tries to roll over but Smith keeps him under control.

Worsley kicks Smith off and gets back to his feet.

Smith gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Smith isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Worsley stacks Smith on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Worsley!
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Worsley wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Smith, who protects the arm well.
Worsley connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Smith some visible discomfort.

Worsley lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Smith down.
Smith is trying to buck Worsley off.
Worsley moves into full mount!
Smith takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Horrible takedown by Worsley or perhaps it was just good defense by Smith which made him look bad.

Smith drops back, looking for a kneebar! Worsley looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Worsley looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Worsley!

Worsley slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

I really don't envy Smith right now.

So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Worsley cracks Smith with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Smith from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Worsley moves into the clinch.
The referee calls for Worsley to work.
Worsley tries to pull guard but Smith won't allow it.
Worsley drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Smith is trying to drag Worsley to the mat but Worsley just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Worsley has hold of one of Smith's legs. Smith is fighting the takedown attempt but Worsley gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Worsley wants to control from the top but Smith keeps moving.
Gump Worsley overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Worsley controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Smith has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Worsley can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Worsley stands up and waves to Smith to follow him.

and Smith counters with an inside leg kick.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gump Worsley. That's going to take a lot out of him.
No luck for Worsley with that takedown attempt.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Worsley lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Smith has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Smith and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Smith shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Worsley manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Worsley has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Smith is working away from the top position though.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Worsley clinches but Smith breaks the clinch
and Smith counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Smith tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Smith defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Worsley.
Worsley throws a quick inside leg kick.
Smith scores with a one two! Worsley had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Worsley lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Worsley.

Worsley closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Smith to the mat! Smith manages to get full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Smith is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Worsley stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Smith lands a nice looking kick to the body. Worsley takes a step back to recover.

Worsley closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Smith is looking to control Worsley's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Smith avoid being mounted?

Smith is defending against the submission attempts here by Worsley.
Worsley is keen to just control but Smith is a slippery customer.

And that's the end of the fight!
Gump Worsley showed his dominance in that final round.
