Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gustavo Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and The Chi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chi has chosen Advance On as his entrance music. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gustavo Santos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, The Chi!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Thiago Cunha and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chi shoots in for a takedown but Santos shows good takedown defense.
Chi fails with a takedown attempt.
Santos shoots for a double leg takedown but Chi sprawls well. He's pushed Santos's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Chi lands a nice looking kick to the body. Santos takes a step back to recover.
Chi gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Santos counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Gustavo Santos has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of The Chi.

Santos is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Chi defends it well.

Santos looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Santos is keen to just control but Chi is a slippery customer.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Santos is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Chi has managed to free his arm - good work.
Santos is stalling here. Chi is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Santos seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Chi has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Chi decides to stand up, so the ref orders Santos to his feet.
Chi clinches but Santos breaks the clinch

and Santos counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Santos is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Chi defends it well.
Santos is breathing heavily.
Chi moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Chi wants to stand and escape but Santos is having none of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Santos drops back, looking for a kneebar! Chi looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Chi looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Chi!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gustavo Santos dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Chi goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Chi clinches but Santos breaks the clinch

and Santos counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Santos.

Santos throws a strike but Chi rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Santos is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Santos is really struggling to control Chi but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Santos trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.

Chi decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Santos on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Chi manages to break the clinch.
The Chi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Chi tries for a takedown but Santos sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Santos is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Chi is just riding it out for now. Santos eventually gives up the hold.
Gustavo Santos overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Santos is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Santos is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Chi has managed to free his arm - good work.

Chi manages to escape and get back to his feet!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Chi gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Santos counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Santos is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Santos wants to lay and pray for a moment but Chi keeps working.
Santos is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Chi is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Santos wants to control from the top but Chi keeps moving.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Santos stops Chi from standing up.
Chi is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Chi gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Santos blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Chi breaks the clinch.
Chi will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Santos circles away from the clinch attempt.
Chi looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Chi shoots for a double leg takedown but Santos sprawls well. He's pushed Chi's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Chi throws a sloppy head kick and Santos moves out of range easily.
Santos slaps away a takedown attempt from Chi, before circling back to the center of the mat.

and Santos counters with a nice double leg into side control. Chi won't be happy with that.

Santos is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Chi has escaped the position, nice work there.

And that's the end of the fight!
Gustavo Santos showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Santos, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
