Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Fat Harry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus Saplin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Marcus Saplin has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Fat Harry's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Fat Harry!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Marcus Saplin!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, John Mangel and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Saplin is looking to clinch but Harry is avoiding it.

Harry moves into the clinch.

Saplin throws a knee to the head but misses.

The referee calls for Harry to work.

Harry changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Saplin fights it off and pushes away nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Harry fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Saplin, pushing him back against the cage.

Harry has picked Saplin up - he's going for a ride! Harry dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Harry is nestled in close to Saplin, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Harry stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Saplin to get to his feet.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

and Harry counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Harry shoots in and bounces Saplin off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Harry swings around for an armbar but Saplin sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Harry's guard.

Harry misses with a few strikes there.
Harry tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Saplin paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Harry tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Saplin tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Harry counters with a shoot takedown. Saplin fights it but they end up in guard.
Harry passes into half guard.

Saplin avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Harry.

Harry wants to advance to full mount but Saplin doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

Harry wants to control from the top but Saplin keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Saplin is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Saplin using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Harry has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Harry is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Saplin is keeping busy.

Harry pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

and Harry counters with a takedown into side control.

Harry is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Saplin knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Harry wants to control for a moment but Saplin uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Saplin darts in trying to clinch

and Harry decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Saplin's guard.
Harry slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Harry stops Saplin from standing up.
Harry loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Harry stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Saplin swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Harry is looking to stand up but Saplin won't let him.
Harry really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Harry darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Harry is looking for a kimura but Saplin is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Harry to get the leverage.
Fat Harry overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Saplin is staying active underneath Harry, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Saplin is trying to escape back to his feet but Harry uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Harry is staying tight to Saplin's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Saplin wants to get back to his feet but Harry drags him back down.
Marcus Saplin has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Harry is looking to take a break and control but Saplin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Fat Harry is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Harry closes the distance and clinches.

Well Harry has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
