Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shane Carson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brendan Schaub (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carson fails with an attempt to clinch.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Schaub is defended easily by Carson.

Schaub jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Carson is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Carson and Schaub has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Schaub is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Carson is just riding it out for now. Schaub eventually gives up the hold.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Schaub is not content to let Carson control the position.
Carson is pressing down on Schaub's thigh, looking to free his foot. Schaub is holding on for now.
