Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shizuka Uesugi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shiro Yoma (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shizuka Uesugi could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Shiro Yoma's chin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yoma works over Uesugi's head and body with a nice combination.

It looks like Shizuka Uesugi has been cut.
Uesugi shoots in for a takedown but Yoma shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Yoma connects with a right hand. Uesugi shakes it off.
Shizuka Uesugi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Uesugi fails with a takedown attempt.

Uesugi tries for a takedown but Yoma sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Yoma leaves Uesugi with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
No joy there for Yoma, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Uesugi drops his hands momentarily and Yoma takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Yoma stalks Uesugi and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Uesugi's face. Uesugi staggers backwards, shaken.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Uesugi shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Yoma as he jumps to the side.

Yoma has managed to clinch.

Yoma clobbers Uesugi with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Uesugi is breathing heavily.
Yoma slaps away a takedown attempt from Uesugi, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Yoma has managed to clinch.
Yoma crunches a lovely knee into Uesugi's ribcage.

Yoma's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Yoma lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Shizuka Uesugi's cut is getting worse.

Uesugi drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Yoma goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

Yoma closes the distance and clinches.
Uesugi goes for a takedown attempt but Yoma pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Yoma is trying to control the position but Uesugi postures up.
Yoma wants to stand and escape but Uesugi is having none of it.
Uesugi tries to free his leg and advance position but Yoma is retaining full guard.

Uesugi passes Yoma's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Uesugi is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Yoma doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Uesugi.
Yoma tries to get to full guard but Uesugi has control of the leg.
Uesugi seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Yoma does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Uesugi is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Uesugi is looking for a kimura but Yoma is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Uesugi to get the leverage.
Yoma should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Yoma is looking to escape.

Uesugi uses his free foot to push down on Yoma's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Yoma.
Yoma is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Uesugi has taken his back.

Uesugi is not going to allow Yoma to sit and survive in this position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Uesugi controlling the position well here. Yoma rolled but Uesugi kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Uesugi's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Yoma is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

Uesugi working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Yoma is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Uesugi has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Yoma taps out!
