Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vladimir Harkonnen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chaka Mababa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mababa has chosen Street Fighting Man as his entrance music. Chaka Mababa will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vladimir Harkonnen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Chaka Mababa!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Aleksandr Martynov and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mababa gets caught flat footed, as Harkonnen shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Mababa working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Harkonnen.
Harkonnen looking to pass the guard.
Mababa keeping moving, preventing Harkonnen from controlling successfully.
Harkonnen pushing down on Mababa's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Harkonnen trying to control from half guard but Mababa is working away.
Harkonnen is controlling the pace.
Mababa is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Harkonnen wants to work for an arm triangle but Mababa is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Harkonnen is pressing down on Mababa's thigh, looking to free his foot. Mababa is holding on for now.

Mababa makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Mababa.
Harkonnen tries to free his leg and advance position but Mababa is retaining full guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Harkonnen passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Harkonnen advances to mount.
Mababa is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Harkonnen trying to control but Mababa is having none of it.
Harkonnen controlling the position easily from mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Mababa sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Harkonnen looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Mababa with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Harkonnen not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Harkonnen seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Mababa does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Harkonnen controlling the action here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Harkonnen trying to mount his opponent but Mababa defends it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Harkonnen is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Mababa keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Harkonnen missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Harkonnen tries to clinch there but Mababa circles away.

Harkonnen drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vladimir Harkonnen dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Mababa scores with a jab to the head.

Harkonnen bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Harkonnen trying to control the position but Mababa is working away.
Mababa is working to avoid the ground and pound but Harkonnen connects with a decent elbow.

Harkonnen tries to move into full mount but can't pass Mababa's legs.
Harkonnen has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Harkonnen is working to tighten is grip on Mababa's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Mababa has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Harkonnen is really squeezing tight and eventually Mababa passes out! Harkonnen breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
