The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Krull stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Martel.
Martel misses with a low kick.
Martel misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Krull shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Krull throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Martel's waist but Martel gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Krull off to one side.

Krull tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Martel swivels and escapes.

Krull chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Martel can pounce on him.

Krull changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Martel tries to avoid it but Krull manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Martel to the ground. Martel escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Krull shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Martel defends it nicely.

Krull feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Krull tries to close the distance and clinch up but Martel swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Martel's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Krull takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Martel throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Krull accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Krull throws a strike but Martel rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Krull is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Martel gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Martel feints and then cracks Krull's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Krull down.
Dwayne Martel is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Krull crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Martel - the referee stops the clock and Krull gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Martel. Krull manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Krull sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Martel got a little sloppy there for a moment and Krull has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Martel has managed to get both his arms back between Krull's legs - danger averted.
