The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mendes shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Mendes throwing shots but Mason is blocking nicely.

Mason is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Mendes pulls his head out easily.

Mason is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Mendes dives into side control.

Mendes decides to stand up, so the ref orders Mason to his feet.
A punch combination from Mendes misses.
Mendes lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Patryck Mendes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Mason gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Mendes to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Mason is looking to stand up but Mendes isn't so interested in that idea.
Mendes is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Mason isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Mendes stacks Mason on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Mendes!
