The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Day fails with a takedown attempt.
Van Der Poel takes the fight into the clinch.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Day chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Van Der Poel can pounce on him.

Van Der Poel goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Van Der Poel has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Van Der Poel looks to land a combination. Day sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Day changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Van Der Poel tries to avoid it but Day manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Van Der Poel to the ground. Van Der Poel escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Michaelangelo Van Der Poel dominated that round.

Day takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Van Der Poel throws a good cross that connects.
No joy there for Van Der Poel, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
