PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Charlie Murpy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Antonio Seivas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Murpy comes to the cage accompanied by Victory. Seivas has chosen Prince Of Darkness as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Charlie Murpy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Antonio Seivas!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Murpy steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Seivas.
Murpy ducks under a wild hook from Seivas.
Murpy walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Murpy shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Some wild striking there from Seivas.
Murpy is trying hard to land a takedown here. Seivas sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Murpy changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Seivas looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Seivas is trying to buck Murpy off.
Seivas is not content to let Murpy control the position.

Murpy swings around for an armbar but Seivas sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Murpy's guard.

Murpy wants to sweep here but Seivas controlling him for the moment.

Seivas thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Seivas got a little sloppy there for a moment and Murpy has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Seivas has managed to get both his arms back between Murpy's legs - danger averted.
Seivas wanted to stand there but Murpy had control of the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Murpy is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Murpy escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Seivas gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Murpy is trying to control the position but Seivas postures up.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Murpy wants to control but Seivas passes easily into half guard.
Murpy won't allow Seivas to pass to mount.

Seivas decides to return to a standing position.

Murpy looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Murpy wants to lay and pray for a moment but Seivas keeps working.
Murpy winds up and cracks Seivas with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Seivas wants to control but Murpy is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Seivas wants to improve his position but Murpy is controlling well.

Murpy uses his free foot to push down on Seivas's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Seivas.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Murpy goes for an armbar but Seivas turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Seivas.
Murpy is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Seivas controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Seivas gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Murpy looking to sit in guard and control but Seivas gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Seivas decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Murpy, up you get!
Murpy looks to land a combination but Seivas avoids it well.

Murpy shoots in for a takedown but Seivas shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Murpy shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Murpy was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Seivas is bucking up trying to escape but Murpy cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Seivas is squirming around, avoiding Murpy's attempts to control the action.

Murpy swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Seivas is now in Murpy's guard. A big mistake from Murpy there, giving up the dominant position!

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Seivas tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Murpy was well out of range. Poor timing from Seivas.

Seivas throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Murpy.
Murpy closes the distance and clinches up with Seivas, looking for a takedown. Murpy pushes Seivas against the cage but Seivas circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Murpy wants to control from the top but Seivas keeps moving.

Murpy drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Seivas manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Murpy has Seivas in his guard.
Seivas pushes down on Murpy's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Seivas stands up and beckons Murpy to join him on the feet.

Murpy changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Seivas tries to avoid it but Murpy manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Seivas to the ground. Seivas escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

and Murpy counters with a single leg into guard. Seivas didn't expect that.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Seivas is looking for a triangle but Murpy pushes his legs off easily.
Seivas is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Murpy is controlling him.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That's time! Back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Seivas will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Murpy displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Seivas throws out the jab.

Murpy is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Seivas is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Seivas has escaped and now he's on top!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Murpy can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Seivas is looking to escape.
Murpy unloads with some shots from mount but Seivas bucks and avoids them well.
Murpy lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Murpy fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Murpy is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Seivas has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Seivas!

Seivas wants to get up but he can't break Murpy's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Murpy shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Seivas pinned against the cage. Seivas gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Seivas tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Murpy was well out of range. Poor timing from Seivas.

I would just about give that final round to Antonio Seivas.
I think Seivas has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
