Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jason Ellis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nathan LaVelle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jason Ellis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Nathan LaVelle!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Dmitry Maklakov and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ellis drives through and clinches with LaVelle against the cage.

LaVelle breaks the clinch.
Ellis misses with a body kick.
Ellis fails with a takedown attempt.

LaVelle forces Ellis back against the cage and clinches.
LaVelle tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

LaVelle pulls Ellis into guard.
LaVelle keeping moving, preventing Ellis from controlling successfully.
Ellis postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Ellis trying to control the position from guard on top but LaVelle is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Ellis avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

LaVelle looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
LaVelle looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Ellis slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Ellis got a little sloppy there for a moment and LaVelle has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Ellis has managed to get both his arms back between LaVelle's legs - danger averted.
Ellis lands a couple of digs.
Ellis cracks LaVelle with a solid left hand.

LaVelle looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Ellis throwing strikes but missing.

Ellis trying to stand up but can't free himself from LaVelle's guard.

LaVelle is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
LaVelle looks gassed!

Ellis lands a couple of elbows.

LaVelle is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Ellis defends well.
Ellis throwing strikes but missing.
Ellis with a flurry of punches that miss.

LaVelle working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Ellis doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Ellis manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Ellis lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Ellis drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Ellis jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Ellis stands and steps away. LaVelle gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Ellis has closed the distance and engaged LaVelle in a clinch.

Ellis successfully pulls guard.

LaVelle thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Ellis wants to get back to his feet but LaVelle is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Ellis is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Ellis will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Ellis manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. LaVelle manages to get himself to full guard.

LaVelle has momentary wrist control but Ellis slips an elbow through the middle.

Ellis stands and steps away. LaVelle gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Ellis is looking to clinch but LaVelle is avoiding it.

Ellis drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Ellis landing strikes.

Ellis tries for a kimura but LaVelle is defending well.

Ellis is working to tighten is grip on LaVelle's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. LaVelle has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Ellis is really squeezing tight and eventually LaVelle passes out! Ellis breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
