Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rick Rude!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ben Hicks!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Bruno Lombardi and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rude shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Rude throwing shots but Hicks is blocking nicely.
Still in half guard, Rude seems content to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rude thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Hicks to regain full guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Hicks is looking to stand up but Rude isn't so interested in that idea.
Rude content to stall in guard here.
Rude wants to pass the guard but Hicks is keeping the position.
Rude thows a big elbow that misses.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Rude trying to control the position from guard on top but Hicks is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Rude stands up and waves to Hicks to follow him.

A slapping leg kick lands for Rude.
Hicks is looking to clinch.

Rude closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Rude pulls guard effortlessly.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rude doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Hicks being controlled here momentarily.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Rude looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hicks is one step ahead there.

Rude controls Hicks momentarily but Hicks frees himself.

Hicks wants to stand but Rude is controlling his posture from full guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Rude is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Hicks won't allow Rude to sweep him here.

Rude wants to get back to his feet but Hicks is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Hicks tries to stand but Rude is controlling from the bottom.
Rude throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Hicks must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Hicks has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Rude is proving hard to escape from.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Hicks throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Rude.

Rude closes the distance and pushes Hicks back into the cage.
Hicks is trying to break the clinch but Rude has him pressed against the cage.
Hicks is pressed up against the cage. Rude has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Hicks down to the mat. Hicks avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Hicks moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hicks lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Rude shoots in for a takedown but Hicks shows good takedown defense.
Hicks moves in looking to clinch but Rude pushes him off.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Rick Rude will probably get the nod.
That's time! Rude's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Hicks throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Rude tries for a takedown but Hicks sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Rude throws a nice outside leg kick.
Rude throws and low kick but Hicks moves out of range easily.

Rude closes the distance and pushes Hicks back into the cage.
Rude blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Hicks blocks an uppercut.
Rude drops down looking for an ankle pick but Hicks pulls his leg out and moves away.
Rude dodges the punch combination from Hicks.
Hicks scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Rude misses with a head kick.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Hicks wants to clinch but Rude slips to the side
and Rude counters with a low kick, right behind Hicks 's knee.
Hicks tries to clinch up

and Rude counters by clinching up.

Hicks is trying to force a seperation but Rude has the dominant position.
Hicks prevents the takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rick Rude. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hicks looking to slow down the pace here.
Hicks working hard to break the clinch.
Hicks tries to stall but Rude uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Rude tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Hicks avoids it.
A shot in the inside from Hicks.
Rude prevents Hicks from breaking the clinch.
Hicks misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Hicks is pressed up against the cage. Rude has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Hicks down to the mat. Hicks avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Hicks lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Rude circles away quickly and effectively.
Hicks throws a body kick that misses.
Rude doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Hicks throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
The fight stays on the outside here - Hicks looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Ben Hicks is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Hicks misses with a head kick.

Hicks scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Hicks misses with a two punch combination.
A solid leg kick lands there for Rude.
Ben Hicks seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Danga de danga de dang - Hicks scores with a four punch combination!
Hicks looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Rude fails with a takedown attempt.

Rude closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Hicks to the mat! Hicks manages to get full guard.
Rude slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Rude prevents Hicks from escaping the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rude taking a breather here.
Rude grinds an elbow into Hicks's temple.
Hicks is letting Rude control him for a moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
The ground and pound from Rude seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Rude controls the position.
Rude prevents Hicks from escaping the position.
Hicks being controlled for a moment.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Ben Hicks.
I think Rude has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
