The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spahr takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Spahr throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Jones moves out of range of the leg kick from Spahr.
Spahr scores with a nice head shot.
Loren Spahr seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jones stuffs the takedown attempt from Spahr. Spahr gets slowly back to his feet.
Spahr throws a head kick that misses.
Spahr closes this distance looking for a takedown but Jones circles away.

Jones scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Jones wants to control but Spahr is keeping him busy.

Jones decides to stand back up. Jones steps back and let's Spahr get back to his feet.

Jones fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Spahr sprawls well initially but Jones persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Spahr is trying to get back to full guard.
Jones on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Jones tries to get out of the position.

Jones can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Spahr is looking to escape.
Jones is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Jones is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Spahr can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Spahr wants to control but Jones is having none of it.
Jones takes his opponent's back. Perhaps a chance to lock up a rear naked choke here.
