PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between PoP Payll (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kevin Brooks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brooks comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Narita kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Kevin Brooks enters the cage!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brooks circles away from the clinch attempt.
Brooks shoots in for a takedown but Payll shows good takedown defense.

Payll decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Payll takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Payll's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Payll decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Brooks has his takedown stuffed

and Payll counters with a takedown into side control.
Payll lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

Payll working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Payll decides to stand up, so the ref orders Brooks to his feet.

Brooks digs a good hook to Payll's body.
Brooks doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Payll counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
PoP Payll has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kevin Brooks.
Payll tries to pass the half guard into mount. Brooks knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Payll seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Payll is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Payll drops back, looking for a kneebar! Brooks looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Brooks looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Brooks!
Payll is not content to let Brooks control the position.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

and Payll counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Brooks wants to sweep here but Payll controlling him for the moment.
Brooks controls Payll momentarily but Payll frees himself.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

That's time! Payll's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Payll is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Payll drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Payll jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Payll wants to stand but Brooks has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Payll seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Brooks looking to sit in guard and control but Payll gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Payll stands and steps away. Brooks gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
