PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Luke Milstone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cody James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Milstone's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Born With nothing Die With Everything - Papa Roach. Cody James acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Luke Milstone!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Cody James!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, John Mangel and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Milstone tries to clinch up.
James fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
James swings for the body but Milstone moves out of range.
Milstone uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from James.

Milstone shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Milstone was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Milstone looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Milstone has hold of James's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and James manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
James wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Milstone wants to control the pace but James is squirming around nicely.

Milstone working for a guillotine from mount but James is in no mood to give up.

Milstone looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
James really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Milstone. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

James is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
James is squirming around, avoiding Milstone's attempts to control the action.
Milstone avoids the attempt from James to control.
Milstone prevents James from getting the reversal.

Milstone has control of James's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and James regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Milstone looking for a guillotine from mount but James is having none of it.

Milstone looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Milstone is breathing heavily.

James is desperately trying to improve his position but Milstone has a good base and remains in mount.

James is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
James is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Milstone is going oldschool here, as he tries to force James to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so James shrugs it off.

Milstone is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. James can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
James trying desperately to get to his feet.
Milstone looking to control but James is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
James sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
James pushes Milstone off looking to stand but Milstone dives back in and keeps control.
Milstone missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Milstone stops James from getting back to his feet.
James wants to control but Milstone is keeping busy.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
James keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
James is trying to stand.

Milstone looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
James slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Milstone drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Milstone jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
James misses with a low kick.
James scores with a three punch combo!


It looks like Luke Milstone has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
A shot to de liver by James. Beautiful body shot.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
James tries to bum rush Milstone with a series of wild strikes but Milstone uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
A punch combination from James misses.
Cody James is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Milstone throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around James's waist but James gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Milstone off to one side.
James jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
James connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
James lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Milstone backs up against the cage.
Milstone checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
James digs a good body shot into Milstone's ribs.
Milstone walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Milstone has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Milstone there as he acknowledges the shot.
James throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Milstone stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
James lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Milstone circles away quickly and effectively.
James tries to bum rush Milstone with a series of wild strikes but Milstone uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
James lunges at Milstone with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Milstone's hand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cody James dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Luke Milstone's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Milstone moves forwards but James connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Milstone gets a clinch.
Milstone drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Milstone creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Milstone wants a takedown but no success here.
Milstone with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Milstone tries to land a knee to the head but James blocks with his arms.
Milstone jumps guard but James stands there with Milstone around his waist. Milstone gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Luke Milstone. That's going to take a lot out of him.
James blocks the elbow strike.
James is looking to break free of the clinch but Milstone has double underhooks.
Milstone fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Milstone looking to throw knees to the head but James is blocking nicely.
James has had enough of the clinch but Milstone keeps him there for the moment.
James is trying to break the clinch but Milstone is controlling him.
Milstone tries to pull guard but James holds him up against the cage and eventually Milstone drops back down to his feet.
James has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

James is trying to force a seperation but Milstone has the dominant position.

James breaks the clinch.
Cody James seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
James walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Milstone drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! James swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Milstone's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Cody James!
