PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between eat me (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and levi grant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
grant swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from me is defended easily by grant.
eat me seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
grant scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
grant misses with a series of wild punches.
grant displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from me.

me changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. grant looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
grant is looking for a sweep.

me thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
me wants to control but grant is keeping him busy.
grant is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on me's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

me is sneakily working for an arm triangle but grant sees it coming and defends easily.

me is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
grant is looking for a sweep. me is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
me changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. grant tries to avoid it but me manages to keep hold of a leg and drag grant to the ground. grant escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

grant will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

me stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. grant swivels though and keeps the full guard.

grant has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but me can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
me has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
grant wants to stand but me is controlling the position.

me drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and me jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
me tries to stand but grant is controlling from the bottom.

me seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but grant does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

me drops back, looking for a kneebar! grant looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. grant looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from grant!

grant has an Americana. me didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! grant is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if grant hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
