Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lyoto Machida!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Edson Gomes and Paulo Santos.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Atreides shoots in but no luck this time.
Nice takedown defense from Machida. No joy for Atreides on that attempt.
Atreides shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Machida defends it nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paul Atreides. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Atreides looks for a takedown but Machida sprawls well.
Atreides tries to close the distance and clinch up but Machida swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Machida connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Atreides momentarily.
Machida stalks Atreides and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Atreides's face. Atreides staggers backwards, shaken.
Paul Atreides seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Atreides fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Machida lands with a kick to the temple. Atreides shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Machida misses with a head kick.

Machida gets caught flat footed, as Atreides shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Atreides wants to pass the guard but Machida is keeping the position.

Atreides sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Machida's guard.
Machida is trying to control but can't.
Atreides is looking to advance position but Machida won't allow it.

Atreides jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Machida is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Machida and Atreides has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Atreides is breathing heavily.

Atreides thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Machida tries to buck Atreides off but Atreides is having none of it.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Machida is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Atreides has just dragged him back down to the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Atreides is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Machida knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Atreides swings around for an armbar but Machida sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Atreides's guard.
Machida wants to stand but Atreides has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Atreides is looking to sinch up a triangle. Machida throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Atreides's body to avoid the submission. Atreides has instead reached around Machida's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Atreides arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
