Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Capelli King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Rawls (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Capelli King!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Rawls!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Alan Glass and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
King moves out of range of the strikes.
King fails to land with a series of punches.
King connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
King loads up on a big right hand but Rawls slips the punch.
Rawls fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Capelli King seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rawls keeps the fight on the outside.
King tries to close the distance and clinch but Rawls swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
King keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
King throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Rawls closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. King did well to prevent Rawls getting side control.
King is looking for a sweep. Rawls is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

King moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Rawls won't allow King to get back to his feet.

King escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rawls gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Rawls slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

King looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Rawls is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

King is looking for a triangle but Rawls pushes his legs off easily.
Rawls postures up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Rawls changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. King looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
King tries to get back to half guard but can't.
You can see the frustration on King's face as Rawls controls the position.

King can't do much from the bottom here.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
King tries to buck Rawls off but Rawls is having none of it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Rawls staying out of range there.
Rawls falls off balance throwing a combination
and King counters with a head kick. That will keep Rawls thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Rawls doesn't succeed with the takedown
and King counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Capelli King has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Rawls.

King throws a head kick that misses.
Rawls avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
King is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
King moves in looking to clinch but Rawls pushes him off.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


King is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Rawls.

and Rawls counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in King's guard now.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rawls is pushing down on King's leg trying to pass to half guard. King is fighting to maintain full guard but Rawls has managed to sneak the leg through.
King wants to control but Rawls is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
King pushes Rawls off looking to stand but Rawls dives back in and keeps control.

Rawls wants to get back to striking at distance but King won't allow it.

That was a close second round but I would say that Capelli King will probably get the nod.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
