PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nicko Tackai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dante Matheus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nicko Tackai!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dante Matheus!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Chris Downing and Daniel Franklin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matheus fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Tackai could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Matheus bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Tackai throws a sloppy head kick and Matheus moves out of range easily.

Matheus clinches.
Tackai drops down looking for an ankle pick but Matheus pulls his leg out and moves away.
Tackai fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Tackai looks to land a combination but Matheus avoids it well.
Matheus shoots in but no luck this time.
No joy there for Tackai, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Tackai swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Tackai misses with a few strikes there.
Matheus dives in and grabs Tackai's left leg, looking for a takedown. Tackai pushes down on Matheus's head and hops out.
Nicko Tackai has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dante Matheus.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tackai misses with the combination.
Matheus shoots in but Tackai avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Matheus gets the takedown into side control.
Tackai gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Tackai is breathing heavily.

Matheus tries to control but Tackai wriggling away.
Matheus is landing with some decent strikes but Tackai is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Matheus has control of Tackai's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Tackai regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Matheus is standing up, even though he is in mount.

Matheus closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Matheus has hold of Tackai's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Tackai seems comfortable defending it but Matheus has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Tackai is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Tackai is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Matheus couldn't care less - he's delighted!
